Beyond the Ceasefire

When the guns fall silent, the hard work begins.

A ceasefire may halt the fire, but it does not heal the fracture. Beyond the Ceasefire examines the moment after conflict — the difficult passage from silence to responsibility, from survival to restoration, from fragile pause to purposeful peace.

It is in that aftermath that diplomacy is truly tested: when institutions must be rebuilt, dignity must be restored, trust must be renegotiated, and justice must move from promise to practice. This theme asks delegates not merely how wars are stopped, but how societies are repaired.

At St. John's MUN 5.0, Beyond the Ceasefire is a call to imagine what comes next — to choose reconciliation over rhetoric, courage over convenience, and dialogue over division. For peace is not the absence of conflict; it is the architecture of what we dare to rebuild.

A Model United Nations is far more than an academic exercise. It is a celebration of ideas, a meeting of diverse perspectives, and an opportunity to discover that disagreement need not diminish respect. It teaches us that true leadership is measured by the courage to seek common ground.

Our theme, Beyond the Ceasefire, is not accidental. History has shown us, time and again, that what happens after the guns fall silent matters more than the silence itself. That is the question we place before you.

MUN will challenge you: positions will frustrate, resolutions will stumble, and some debates will feel impossible. But inside that beautiful mess, you will find your voice. You will learn to listen before you speak, and to stand firm without shutting others out.

That is not a small thing. That is the work of building a better world. Looking forward to the debates, the breakthroughs, and the delegates you are about to become.

Conference Guidelines

    Minimum & Maximum Delegates

    A school delegation should comprise a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 20 delegates. Delegates may be from grades 9 to 12.

    Registration & Confirmation

    Schools are requested to send in their confirmation by the 5th of August, 2026 and complete registration by the 15th of August, 2026 by filling out the registration forms.

    Mode of Payment

    The mode of payment for the conference will be provided by the St. John's MUN Secretariat shortly.

  • 04
    Conference Handbook

    The Conference Handbook, including a detailed guide to our Rules of Procedure, dress code and a tentative schedule, shall be made available on this website by the 15th of August, 2026.

Steps to Register

Phase 1 · The Registration Form

This is a two-step registration process. First, the registration form is to be filled; the delegate information sheet must then be downloaded, completed with delegate details, and uploaded on the form. Please feel free to reach out to us in case of any queries.

Phase 2 · The Payment Procedure

Allotments will be sent after your registration form is received. A cumulative payment is to be made by the school in the case of a school delegation. Payment procedures will be communicated by our team.
